anatomy teaching
While living in NYC, Adele completed a four-year program in Embodied Anatomy & Kinesiology with Amy Matthews, co-author of the Yoga Anatomy textbook, at The Breathing Project. She was the recipient of The Breathing Project’s 2104 Judy Feldman Memorial Scholarship, which enabled her to continue her studies with a series of courses in developmental movement, Body-Mind Centering, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Laban Movement Analysis, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF). She continued her study of anatomy at the University of Washington, where she took courses in the Rehabilitation Medicine department and in Hannah Wiley’s Anatomy for Dancers course.
In 2015-17, Adele developed and taught a 2-year anatomy curriculum at Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique (RIAT) in New York City. She also piloted, designed and taught a “Flipped Classroom” online course about the bones of the spine. She now teaches anatomy & kinesiology for dancers at Sam Houston State University, and she brings her knowledge of and passion for anatomy and embodied practices to all of her teaching work.
